Director for Medical Education (MHSA)

Job Summary: 

The candidate will supervise and facilitate the daily operations of Medical Education for the Master of Health Science in Anesthesia (MHSA) Program which supports faculty classroom instruction and testing.  The position will require significant interaction with both students and faculty, and an amicable professional demeanor is essential. The position serves as primary liaison between the Master of Health Science in Anesthesia Program and the Medical Education department of VCOM and Bluefield University.

Salary Range: $66,000 - $78,000

Facilities Assistant

Job Summary:  

Assists in a wide range of duties with specific responsibility for building maintenance, and security.  Enforces all building policies to assure the quality, continuity, and efficiency of college operation with an emphasis on customer service and effectiveness. Assists with keeping copiers and printer in good working order.  Assist with classroom setup as needed. Monitors the building before closing hours. Responsible for making sure the building is empty of students before closing, looks for safety violations, activates and deactivates alarms at appropriate times, checks the floors for locked doors and turns off lights.

Salary Range:  $42,000 - $48,000

Pharmacology Faculty

Job Summary: 

To educate medical students in Pharmacology across a two-year preclinical curriculum, to conduct research and scholarly activity, and to provide service to the institution. 

Salary: $ 100,000 - $140,000

Required Qualifications: 

  • Education: PharmD, preferably with residency training, or PhD in Pharmacology with post-doctoral training. Other PharmD with teaching and research experience will be considered.
  • Experience: Three to five years of teaching /research experience, preferably at the graduate level; broad-based background in pharmacology; publication(s) in peer-reviewed journal(s) preferred.

Job Summary: 

Teach all assigned coursework to Anesthesiologist Assistant students and actively participate in curriculum development in collaboration with the Dean; develop, teach, monitor, and evaluates courses in the basic science, clinical, and simulation/skills development aspects of the graduate program; act as a resource for professional and community connections for personal and professional development; act as an academic adviser for the students and mentor for the comprehensive examinations; remain current in professional area of interest and participate in professional societies and activities, participate in all assigned, required, as well as other related professional services and activities in the MHSA Program.

Salary Range: $80,000 - $120,000

Required Qualifications: 

Education: Completion of an accredited program in Anesthesiologist Assistant or Nurse Anesthesia, master’s degree or higher, with relevant experience in teaching.

Licensure: Professional certification as an Anesthesiologist Assistant through the National Commission for the Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants (NCCAA) or National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA); valid professional state license in good standing. 

Experience: 

  • Minimum of five (5) years clinical experience in anesthesiology or closely related field
  • Teaching experience at the graduate or undergraduate level
  • Organizational committee participation
  • A record of community experience
  • Ability to mentor students
